Jakarta, August 18, 2026 – To secure the electricity supply during the commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day on Monday, August 17, 2026, PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) deployed 6,018 personnel across its power generation units for full standby operations from August 16 to 18, 2026. The measure was taken to ensure a reliable and high-quality electricity supply across Indonesia, allowing communities nationwide to celebrate Independence Day with uninterrupted power. As of Tuesday (August 18), PLN NP confirmed that electricity supply from its generation fleet remained secure through the conclusion of the Independence Day standby period.
PLN NP maintained a total Available Supply Capacity of 16,202 megawatts (MW) across its power generation units throughout Indonesia. The standby operation was aimed at maintaining the stability and reliability of the electricity supply during this important national occasion.
The standby operation involved 573 generating units and 6,018 personnel, comprising PLN NP employees, outsourced personnel, business partners, and security teams. PLN Nusantara Power also strengthened coordination with various stakeholders, including the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and communities surrounding its power generation facilities. This collaboration ensured that electricity supply remained secure throughout the Independence Day celebrations.
President Director of PLN Nusantara Power Ruly Firmansyah emphasized the readiness of all power plants stretching from Aceh to East Nusa Tenggara, including strategic facilities such as the Arun Gas Engine Power Plant in Lhokseumawe, the Teluk Balikpapan Steam Power Plant, the Pulang Pisau Steam Power Plant in Kalimantan, and the Tidore Steam Power Plant in eastern Indonesia.
“We are committed to ensuring a stable electricity supply so that people throughout Indonesia can celebrate the 81st Independence Day with enthusiasm. We also established 125 standby posts to secure electricity supply during the Independence Day celebrations,” Ruly said.
PLN Nusantara Power also emphasized intensified patrols, preventive maintenance, and predictive measures across all power generation units during the standby period.

PLN Nusantara Power also strengthened coordination with security authorities and relevant stakeholders to safeguard vital and strategic assets across its power generation facilities.
PLN Nusantara Power’s commitment to supporting the success of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day was also reflected in the contribution of PLN NP Muara Karang Generation Unit. The gas-fired power generation facility supplies 18.4 percent of the electricity demand in Jakarta and Banten and supports electricity requirements for national VVIP areas. With an installed capacity of 2,177 MW, the unit, located in Pluit, Jakarta, plays an important role in supplying electricity, including supporting the 81st Republic of Indonesia Independence Day Ceremony on August 17, 2026.
In addition to personnel and equipment readiness, PLN Nusantara Power also utilized advanced technology through the Nusantara InnoVision Center (NIC). The technology enables real-time data monitoring and supervision, as well as the integration of all business lines, ranging from power plant operations and project development to overall corporate performance, supported by robust cybersecurity measures.
NIC serves as PLN Nusantara Power’s integrated digital information visualization center, supported by artificial intelligence to monitor all aspects of the company’s business. By leveraging big data analytics and integrated dashboards, PLN NP accelerates strategic decision-making to support smooth and reliable operations.
