Nature & Biodiversity

We recognize our responsibility to protect the world and preserve the balance of life on Earth. We embrace actions that conserve ecosystems, fighting climate change, and ensure the prosperity of nature and humanity together.
PLN NP are committed to managing the potential impacts of its business activities on biodiversity, including habitat fragmentation, environmental pollution, ecosystem degradation, climate change, and the use of natural resources.
These impacts have the potential to disrupt ecosystems surrounding electricity installations. To mitigate these effects, we implement strategic measures such as avoiding operations in areas with high biodiversity value, minimizing impacts, restoring affected environments, and providing compensation. These efforts are carried out comprehensively from the planning and operational stages to post-operation activities.

Nurturing a Greener Future

We are determined to nurture a greener future with concrete actions that address climate challenges, while preserving marine and terrestrial ecosystems through emission reductions, energy efficiency improvements, and sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact.

We strive to protect natural habitats, restore ecosystems, and ensure the responsible use of resources. By integrating these initiatives into our operations, we are committed to creating a sustainable balance between economic growth and environmental preservation, for a healthier planet for future generations. asdasda

Facing challenges of turtle ecosystem extinction, the Brantas Generating Unit initiated a biodiversity conservation program at Serang Beach, Kabupaten Blitar, Jawa Timur. This program includes education on the importance of turtle conservation, capacity building for community groups, conservation efforts, provision and support of conservation facilities and infrastructure, as well as reporting, monitoring, and program evaluation. Through these efforts, the Company aims to prevent turtle extinction while fostering awareness and community engagement in preserving the turtle ecosystem.
We are carrying out environmental conservation efforts by establishing coral nurseries on jetties or port facilities, utilizing piling structures beneath the sea surface. We are also actively protecting the Kijang Muntjak (barking deer) around the unit area by planting trees near water sources, constructing water flow dams as drinking spots for wildlife, and installing camera traps. Mangrove conservation is also conducted through planting seedlings, maintenance, and monitoring mangrove growth.
To protect and preserve Gedong Gincu flora and Java Sparrow fauna, we have introduced innovative agroforestry methods, integrating additional plant species into conservation areas. Planting Gedong Gincu mango trees naturally attracts birds, enhancing biodiversity. This conservation effort creates long-term restoration impacts on habitats, mitigates climate change, improves air and water quality, and generates social benefits for communities near our power generation.
Bukit Kebo Tourism Park is located in Manggar Village, Central Balikpapan District, Balikpapan City. This tourist area features expansive grasslands and gazebos, providing a venue for various activities such as ceremonies, camping, pre-wedding photoshoots, and video production. In addition to serving as a tourist destination, it also functions as a conservation site for Bubalus Bubalis, a native water buffalo species from Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Bukit Kebo Tourism Park is situated within the ring 1 area of PLTD Batakan UP Kaltimra.
To prevent coastal abrasion and support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, GU Rembang has developed the "Anti-Failure Mangrove Cultivation" (GeHa Apung) innovation, utilizing FABA waste and wood as planting media. This initiative supports mangrove planting with a success rate of nearly 80%. The program focuses on cultivating mangrove seedlings in controlled and optimal conditions while protecting them from the impacts of climate change. The planted mangroves have the potential to absorb 2,308.31 tons of CO2, significantly contributing to the enhancement of blue carbon stock.

Cirata Generating Unit: Agroforestry Program and Nursery Center

We cultivate 40 types of seedlings, producing over 50,000 ready-to-plant seedlings annually. This nursery process supports reforestation programs for units, PLN, the government, and the community. Additionally, we restore land functions and support plant education centers through an agroforestry program that cultivates 46 types of fruit and endemic trees. The environmental impact of this program includes the absorption of 115.9 tons of CO2 and a carbon mass of 31.6 tons.
