Bangladesh Energy Minister Visits Muara Karang Generation Unit, Applauds PLN Nusantara Power’s Innovations

Jakarta, August 26, 2026 – PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) welcomed the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh and his delegation to the Muara Karang Generation Unit (UP Muara Karang) in Jakarta. The visit served as a strategic opportunity to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and experience in the power sector, particularly in generation reliability, operational efficiency, and clean energy development. The visit also carried strategic significance given the longstanding bilateral relations between Indonesia and Bangladesh.

PLN Nusantara Power has established strategic cooperation with Bangladesh through maintenance and Major Inspection projects for a 150 MW Gas Turbine Power Plant (PLTG) in Bangladesh in 2023 and 2024.

President Director of PLN Nusantara Power Ruly Firmansyah said the visit by the Bangladeshi delegation provided an important opportunity to share experience and explore further cooperation in the energy sector.

“We warmly welcome the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh and the delegation to the Muara Karang Generation Unit. This visit provides a strategic platform to exchange experience in power generation management, system reliability, technological innovation, and clean energy development. We hope this relationship and knowledge exchange can evolve into broader collaboration that delivers benefits for both countries,” Ruly said.

In addition to observing the power generation facilities firsthand, the delegation was introduced to various innovations developed by PLN NP to support the transformation of the energy sector. One of these is the Muara Karang Green Hydrogen Plant (GHP), one of the pioneering green hydrogen development initiatives in Indonesia.

Through the Muara Karang GHP, PLN NP produces green hydrogen using electrolysis powered by renewable energy sources. The innovation forms part of PLN NP’s efforts to accelerate the adoption of clean energy technologies while supporting the achievement of Indonesia’s Net Zero Emissions (NZE) target by 2060.

On the same occasion, Bangladesh Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hassan Mahmood, MP, expressed his appreciation for PLN Nusantara Power’s power generation management and the various innovations it has developed, particularly in addressing the challenges of the energy transition. He said Bangladesh had gained valuable experience and knowledge from Indonesia’s power generation management through PLN Nusantara Power.

“Relations between Indonesia and Bangladesh have been very strong, and the energy sector represents an important area for further strengthening those ties. PLN Nusantara Power’s experience in working in Bangladesh is clear evidence that the partnership between our two countries has resulted in concrete collaboration. We hope this cooperation will continue to expand, not only in power generation, but also in clean energy development and future technologies,” Iqbal Hassan Mahmood said.

The visit also demonstrated that Indonesia’s experience in managing power systems and developing clean energy technologies has the potential to serve as a reference for energy sector development at the international level.

PLN Nusantara Power continues to drive the transformation of its generation business by improving reliability and efficiency, accelerating digitalization, and developing green energy solutions.
