Jakarta, 3 October 2025 – PT PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) marked its 30th anniversary by hosting Nusantaraversary Green Fest at Angke Kapuk Nature Tourism Park, North Jakarta. The event served as an important milestone for the company to reaffirm its strategic role—not only as a pioneer of green energy, but also as an active agent of reforestation and environmental conservation across Indonesia.
During the event, PLN NP planted hundreds of mangrove trees in the Angke Kapuk conservation area and donated 3,000 mangrove seedlings to forest farmer groups fostered by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. This contribution represents tangible support for the Giant Sea Wall program, which aims to protect the capital city from coastal abrasion and tidal flooding.
The mangrove planting ceremony held on Thursday (2/10) was part of the broader Nusantaraversary Green Fest activities. Through coordinated efforts involving more than 30 PLN NP units across Indonesia, the company successfully planted 16,213 trees over 20 hectares of land, with a potential carbon emission reduction of 486 tons of CO? per year.
President Director of PLN Nusantara Power, Ruly Firmansyah, emphasized that the planting initiative reflects the company’s concrete commitment to its 30th anniversary theme, “Pioneering Greener Power.”
“Green energy is not only generated through power plants, but also through concrete actions to preserve the Earth. The mangrove planting at this Green Fest is a green legacy we aim to leave behind—strengthening coastal ecosystems and securing a better future for generations to come,” said Ruly.
Data show that during 2023–2024, PLN NP planted 324,698 trees across 456 hectares, with a potential CO? reduction of 9,741 tons per year. Throughout 2025, the PLN (Persero) subholding has planted 165,725 trees over 207 hectares, capable of reducing CO? emissions by up to 4,972 tons per year.
The Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, Minister of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia, expressed appreciation for PLN NP’s consistent commitment to reforestation initiatives.
“Thank you to PLN NP for initiating these environmental agendas—not only during anniversary celebrations, but on a continuous basis. This collaboration must be further strengthened to support the achievement of Indonesia’s national net zero emissions target,” he stated.
A similar sentiment was conveyed by Dyah Murtiningsih, Director General of Watershed Management and Forest Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Forestry.
“Mangrove ecosystems have the capacity to store five to eight times more carbon than terrestrial forests. Every hectare of rehabilitated mangroves is a multiplied investment—not only for the environment, but also for the local economy. What PLN NP has done through the Green Fest is a clear example of how state-owned enterprises can become drivers of Indonesia’s green economy,” Dyah explained.
Beyond Jakarta, PLN NP has carried out large-scale greening programs nationwide. In 2024, the company planted more than 211,504 trees across various units, with a potential carbon reduction of 63,345 tons of CO? per year. Meanwhile, in the first half of 2025, more than 143,458 trees were planted across 116 hectares, with a potential reduction of 4,303 tons of CO? per year.
These greening efforts are conducted through collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including the Ministry of Forestry, the Ministry of Environment, local governments, forest farmer groups, and non-profit organizations such as World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). One notable initiative was tree planting in the upstream area of the Ciliwung River in May 2025, carried out in landslide-prone areas with extreme slopes reaching 75 degrees.
Nusantaraversary Green Fest was attended by the Minister of Environment, Rizal Calvary Marimbo, Director of Power Generation Management of PT PLN (Persero), the Director General of Watershed Management and Forest Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Forestry, forest farmer groups, environmental communities, content creators, as well as members of the boards of directors of PLN NP and PLN (Persero). The event also showcased PLN NP’s flagship CSR products focusing on environmental conservation and community empowerment.
More than a celebration, Nusantaraversary Green Fest embodies PLN Nusantara Power’s philosophy of leaving a green footprint in every step it takes. Guided by the spirit of Pioneering Greener Power, PLN NP remains committed to delivering clean energy while fostering a more sustainable planet.
