Banten, June 10, 2026 – PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) continues to solidify its role as a catalyst for Indonesia’s electricity sector transformation by developing a world-class, globally competitive workforce. This commitment was formalized with the official launch of the Ultra Super Critical (USC) Boiler Learning Center at the Java 7 Power Plant, alongside a strategic cooperation agreement signed between PT Shenhua Guohua Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (SGPJB), PT PLN (Persero) Pusdiklat (Corporate University), and PT Sinergi Solusi Utama (SSU) in Banten on Wednesday (June 10).
The Java 7 USC Boiler Learning Center marks a significant milestone in national power generation competency. The facility, equipped with a 1,000 MW capacity simulator, is now officially a PLN learning hub designed to support operator competency training, knowledge transfer, and the development of power industry talent to global standards.
The agreement was signed by SGPJB President Director An Liang, PLN Pusdiklat General Manager Y. Endah Cahyaningrum, and Sinergi Solusi Utama President Director Ardian Cholid. The ceremony was witnessed by PLN’s Director of Legal and Human Capital Management, Yusuf Didi Setiarto, and PLN Nusantara Power’s Director of Human Capital Management and Administration, TB Ari Wibawa Mukti.
The collaboration encompasses learning program management, curriculum development, expert resource provision, simulator utilization, and the development of simulator-based training businesses. This synergy integrates real-world power plant operational experience with advanced simulation technology, creating a comprehensive framework for professional development.
The Learning Center replicates the operational conditions of Ultra Super Critical technology in real-time. Supported by syllabi and modules collaboratively developed by PLN Pusdiklat and the Java 7 expert team, the facility allows participants to master complex operational scenarios, enhance decision-making capabilities, and sharpen emergency response skills — all without disrupting live power plant operations.
TB Ari Wibawa Mukti, Director of Human Capital Management and Administration at PLN Nusantara Power, emphasized that competency development is a strategic investment vital for business sustainability and the energy transition currently being undertaken by the PLN Group.
"The transformation of the electricity sector is determined not only by technological advancement but by the quality of the human resources operating it. The Java 7 USC Boiler Learning Center is a strategic investment in building superior, adaptive, and globally competitive talent. PLN NP believes that strengthening competency through real operational experience and cutting-edge simulation technology is key to maintaining grid reliability while supporting the national energy transition agenda," said Ari.
He further highlighted the facility as a tangible contribution from PLN NP and its affiliates in creating a world-class learning hub. "As part of the PLN Nusantara Power Group, we view this Learning Center as a long-term investment in human capital. Through our affiliate, SGPJB, PLN NP is not only providing reliable energy but also taking an active role in establishing a knowledge transfer hub that will prepare Indonesian professionals to meet the challenges of the energy transition and the Net Zero Emission target."
SGPJB President Director An Liang added that the launch is the implementation phase of a cooperation initiative initiated last year. "We believe human resources are the key to the industry's advancement. We are committed to increasing operational quality and strengthening professional development programs through this simulator training center," An Liang stated, while expressing gratitude for PLN's continued trust and support.
Meanwhile, PLN Director of Legal and Human Capital Management, Yusuf Didi Setiarto, lauded SGPJB's initiative. "This is an extraordinary and unique initiative. As an Independent Power Producer, SGPJB is not obligated to build this facility, yet the management voluntarily brought it to life and invited PLN to collaborate. This facility will provide immense benefits for the development of PLN’s personnel and the broader Indonesian electricity sector," he noted.
The Java 7 power plant, with a 2 x 1,050 MW capacity, is one of the largest and most efficient power plants in Indonesia. Utilizing USC technology, it enhances combustion efficiency, thereby reducing fuel consumption and emissions. It is also equipped with Sea Water Flue Gas Desulfurization (SWFGD) technology, which utilizes seawater to capture sulfur dioxide, making the plant significantly more environmentally friendly.
The Java 7 Learning Center now stands as a testament to PLN NP Group's contribution to developing national generation capabilities, ensuring energy security, and supporting Indonesia’s path toward a sustainable energy future.
